DNR holds controlled burn at Prophetstown State Park

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Smoke has filled the sky in Tippecanoe County Friday afternoon, but it was all planned.

Department of Natural Resource (DNR) officers held a controlled burn near the entrance of Prophetstown State Park.

The burn was similar to the burn at the Celery Bog a week ago, allowing for plants to grow naturally in the spring.

DNR officers on the scene said that the large portion of their burn had been completed just after four this afternoon.

However they said they were planning another smaller burn later.
