TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - The Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office is investigating a threat found in a bathroom of a Tippecanoe County School.

The written threat was found Monday in a bathroom stall in Wainwright Middle School.

"I got a call from Mr. McCutcheon at Wainwright letting me know that he had just dealt with the situation and then proceeded to tell me what it was," Wainwright Middle School parent Brianna Harrison said.

Brianna Harrison's son, who is in 8th grade at Wainwright, found a message saying, "I will kill you" and included her son's name. The message didn't stop there.

"It also said 'P.S. You are a 'the f-word' retard,' " Harrison explained.

Wainwright Middle School Principal Neil McCutcheon declined an on-camera interview with News 18 but said the incident has been forwarded to the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office for further investigation.

"We have since worked with Neil McCutcheon, the principal," Tippecanoe County Sheriff Tracy Brown said. "We have assigned an investigator to do what we do in all cases where there is a threat and that is to assess that threat and try to determine what has happened and who is responsible."

Brianna and Adam Harrison said they have removed their child from Wainwright Middle School since the threat was made on Monday.

Sheriff Tracy Brown said the investigation is on-going. Brown said upon further investigation this case could eventually be turned over to the juvenile prosecutor's office for further action.

Tippecanoe School Corporation Superintendent Scott Hanback would not do an interview about the incident, but released this statement: " The immediate concern in conducting a threat assessment and subsequent investigation is to provide for the safety of all students and staff. If threats are confirmed then appropriate disciplinary consequences will occur for those student(s) causing the issue which may include anything up to expulsion from school or even arrest depending on the severity of the threat."
