WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Mitch Daniels took over as Purdue's 12th president nearly a month ago. Friday, he attended his first meeting with the University's most elite leaders.
The Board of Trustees opened its meeting with applause to welcome Daniels.
Daniels then gave his very first president's report. In his report, he mentioned his warm welcome from the student body, including a surprise flash mob outside Hovde Hall last month.
He also said he's been trying to talk with students about certain initiatives. The switch from semesters to trimesters has been a hot topic. He said students keep telling him there is a need for the switch.
"I think there's a significant demand among students for more opportunities in the summer. I think the faculty who are helping us lead this inquiry see the same need," Daniels said.
As News 18 has already reported, Daniels said he's learned that there's not University consensus for trimesters and more study is needed for them. But he said he is listening to students and their needs.
