LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A crew installing a fence in the 4100 block of Haggerty Lane in Lafayette hit a gas line.
It happened just before 9:30 Wednesday morning.
Lafayette Fire Department said the leak was minor but a nearby office building was evacuated as a precaution.
Officials say fumes still coming from the leak but are not causing any harm to the nearby building.
Firefighters remain on the scene until the gas company comes to dig up the line and stop the leak.
