LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - State Road 25 in Tippecanoe County was shut down for almost four hours Tuesday.

It happened on State Road 25 near the intersection of Sugar Creek Road about 1.5 miles southwest of Americus about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Capt. Denise Saxton with the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office said a car driving north tried to turn left and collided with a motorcycle going in the opposite direction.

The sheriff's office said the motorcyclist, 52-year-old Randall Kesling, was airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

The driver of the car, 54-year-old Laura Fogelman, checked into St. Elizabeth Central Hospital in Lafayette with minor injuries.

Fogelman told investigators she was trying to turn into a driveway in order to turn around when she collided with the motorcycle.

"It's still under investigation," Capt. Saxton said.  "Again, people need to pay attention.  Please drive safely."

Traffic in both directions was shut down for almost four hours until after 8:00.
