CARROLL COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Much more information was released Tuesday afternoon about a crash on the Hoosier Heartland near Carroll County Road 800 West.

According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, a rural Delphi man received possible internal injuries as a result of a crash between a pickup truck and a semi.

Officials said the report of the accident was called in at 11:29 a.m. Tuesday. Sheriff’s deputy Jay Schimmel said 79-year-old Boyden Cull was driving a red pickup truck south on 800 West when, for unknown reasons, he pulled into the path of a semi tractor-trailer driven by 54-year-old Robert Willibaum of Louisville, Ky.

Cull was trapped in his truck and had to be extricated from the vehicle. He was semi-conscious as EMS crews worked to stabilize him prior to being airlifted from the scene of the crash.

Investigators are uncertain if Cull was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. His pickup truck was a total loss and the tractor-trailer received serious damage to the right rear trailer tires and wheels.

This was the county’s first serious accident on the new portion of SR 25 since its opening last October.

According to the county sheriff’s office, quite a few crews were sent to the scene of the crash Tuesday.
