LOGANSPORT, Ind. (WLFI) - Construction is expected to start soon on a new movie theater in Logansport.
The five- screen multiplex will use $225,000 of the city's TIF funds, or Tax increment financing funds.
TIF funds are typically used for infrastructure like streets and sidewalks.
Some members of the redevelopment commission disagreed with using TIF funds to pay a private contractor to build the theater. Out of that disagreement, Mayor Ted Franklin replaced three members of the redevelopment commission.
Now, Franklin said the project is still expected to move forward.
"I believe the building permit is scheduled to be issued this week, so at that time I believe it's 90 days construction after that," Franklin said. "There's going to be some weather factors in there too, but we're thinking around 90 days and by the end of March it will be fully functional and showing movies."
The theater will bring four full-time jobs and 25 part-time jobs to Logansport.
