Community members bowl for injured animals

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The Lafayette community came together on Saturday to raise money for the love of animals.

It was all part of the annual Strike Out Suffering bowl-a-thon, sponsored by Almost Home Humane Society.

All of the funds will be used to treat sick or injured animals that come into the shelter.

Bowlers filled Star Lanes in Lafayette and filled every single lane in three different bowling sessions

Executive director Michelle Warren said they see a lot of injured animals come through their doors.

"We see a lot hit by cars, we've seen gunshot wounds, really anything you can image unfortunately," said Warren. "This fund allows us the opportunity to stabilize, do pain management, and make sure they're given every possible thing that we have for them to get them rehabilitated and on the adoption floor."

In the first session alone, bowlers said they raised more than $11,000.
