LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Cody Garrett, a 14-year-old student injured in an accident at Wainwright Middle School last Monday, remains in critical condition.
Tippecanoe School Superintendent Scott Hanback says it will take at least another week before the investigation on the two burned students at Wainwright Middle School is complete.
Last week, science teacher William Douglas was doing a demonstration with isopropyl alcohol when it ignited, burning two students.
15-year-old student Leighton Fruits was treated at Clarian Arnett Hospital and released.
14-year-old Cody Garrett remains at Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis in critical condition.
Douglas also suffered minor burns to his hands when he attempted to aid the students.
Hanback says the school is now waiting on the Sheriff's Department before results will be released.
Sheriff Tracy Brown says the department is actively investigating the incident, and should be finished by the end of this week.
Wainwright students are donating the proceeds from their annual talent show to aid the burned students, and are planning further fundraisers.
This website, sponsored by Clarian Health, hosts a guestbook where people can leave notes of support for Cody. Over 350 notes have already been written.
