LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - People riding buses around Greater Lafayette have a chance to read the writing on the wall.
CityBus has started displaying poetry and illustrations on all of their buses.
The program is called Words on the Go.
Local writers and artists submit their creations to a committee that picks which ones will be hung for commuters to enjoy.
The committee hopes the poetry will make riding the bus a more enjoyable experience.
"If you're on the same bus everyday with more or less the same people and the same driver, it's nice to look up there and see a different poem,” said Katy Dietrich of Words on the Go.
"It just gives you a little something to think about. It's something other than an ad or an admonishment to do or not to do something. It just puts a little calm in you. Ya know?” said Steward Frestas, commuter.
The poems and artwork are changed about twice a year.
To submit your poem or picture, head to their website .
