WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - This year's Global Fest has been canceled due to weather concerns.

The festival was scheduled to take place Saturday at the Morton Community Center. Global Fest celebrates cultural diversity with food booths, performances, and craft demonstrations.

West Lafayette Mayor John Dennis said city officials are concerned about the heavy rainfall we are expected to get this weekend. Dennis says city officials have been watching Tropical Depression Isaac closely.

"We've been working very closely with our emergency services personnel, with the National Weather Service, with professionals at Purdue University and from the information that we've received, tomorrow looks like it's going to be a rather stormy day," said Dennis.

Dennis said there will not be a make-up date for Global Fest. He said the city will just have to celebrate twice as much next year.
