TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - The Tippecanoe School Corporation trustees gave hundreds of employees a Christmas bonus, as well as a June bonus.

It was one of several financial approvals at Wednesday evening's board meeting.

The board approved a $500 stipend for most full-time employees and a $250 stipend for most part-time employees. Half the stipend will be paid this month, half will be paid in June. For the 781 employees it means a combined $288,000. Superintendent Scott Hanback is the sole administrator who is not getting a stipend.

It matches a stipend that TSC teachers are getting in their contract.

The board also approved a 2 percent salary increase for support staff Wednesday.

The board also elevated Christy Fraley to be the first Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education and eliminated her former position as Director of Administrative Services.

At their work session Wednesday afternoon, they also discussed the vacancy of the District 5 seat being vacated by Alan Kemper who is retiring. Nine people have asked to be considered for the position: M. Lynn Beck, David A. Coleman, Kim S. Little, Gary W. Neal, Mary M. Quinlisk, Jane M. Smith, Jerilyn Smith, Ted D. Springer and Scott W. Starkey.

"The process has really just begun," said TSC Counsel Mark DeYoung. "There were a number of candidates. We spoke with eight today. The Board has begun to review the applications and hopes to make a decision as early as Jan. 9."

Current president Kathy Dale is also stepping down. Kemper is currently out of the country, but both members were recognized for more than a decade of service.
