ATTICA, Ind. (WLFI) - Indiana State Troopers said three children are now in the hands of the Fountain County Child Protective Services, after their caretaker is arrested for manufacturing meth.

On Friday, Trooper Brock Russell of the Indiana State Police Meth Suppression Team said he was advised by a local retail store in the Lafayette area, of possible articles purchased that are used to make meth.

According to troopers, around 2:15 Saturday morning, Trooper Russell and other members of the Meth Suppression Team turned up an active meth lab at a location on the 200 block of South Pike Street in Attica.

Troopers said 28-year-old Jerrick Kirby of Attica was arrested at the scene. Kirby was arrested for manufacturing of methamphetamine, a Class B felony, and possession of two or more chemical reagents or precursors with intent to manufacture methamphetamine, a Class D felony.

Troopers said Kirby was booked into Fountain County Jail where he is being held on a no bond order for violation of probation.

After taking Kirby into custody, that's when troopers said they went to Kirby’s residence at 707 S. Union St. in Attica. There, they said they found three children under the age of 10, with no responsible adult supervision.

Fountain County Child Protective Services were called to take control of the children.

Shortly before Kirby's arrest, troopers said 29-year-old Christine Adams and 28-year-old Bradley Murphy were arrested at 104 East Vine St. in Attica.

According to troopers, Adams was booked into the Fountain County Jail for conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine, a Class D felony. A no bond order on Adams was issued for violation of her probation.

Troopers said Murphy was charged with conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine, a Class D felony. He was booked into Fountain County Jail on a $25,000 bond.

The Attica Police Department and the Fountain County Sheriff’s Department assisted the Indiana State Police in these arrests. The investigation is continuing.
