LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Families gathered together at First Christian Church for a children's Christmas Eve service.
Children learned the Christmas story and set up a nativity scene while singing Christmas songs with their families.
Michelle Schluttenhofer brought her family to the Christmas Eve service.
"It is a lot more suited towards them. They understand the service a lot better. It is something that they can sit through and it is not so long that they are screaming and crying. It really brings Jesus' birth to light for them," Schluttenhofer said. "It really brings across the fact that the Christmas season is about Jesus' birth. Not all the presents they are getting under the tree."
Alena Chitty enjoyed being able to talk with other children about Christmas.
"To see the little kids interact with all the different things we do every Christmas Eve," Chitty said. "I get to see my older brother every Christmas and my family."
Lane Clevenger liked lighting the candles and singing.
"We held candles and we went up and learned about Jesus," he said.
Lexie Brandshaw enjoyed singing Christmas songs during the service.
"Joy To The World, The Little Drummer Boy, Away In A Manger," she said.
