TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Drivers may be on their best behavior when they see a marked police car. But maybe a little less so when the police car isn't so noticeable.
Indiana State Master Trooper Aaron McCormick is part of the High Performance Vehicle Program. This means he drives an undercover 2013 Black GT Mustang to stop aggressive drivers.
McCormick said he pulls people over who tailgate, pass in a double yellow zone, speed, or weave in and out of traffic. He's assigned to the Lafayette District which means he patrols eight counties.
He said he can normally be spotted on two-lane state and county roads. But it's at stoplights where aggressive drivers don't want to find him.
"I just sit back, watch them, let them do what they're going to do. I don't antagonize them into dragging but a lot of times, they just take off. I let them get up to above the speed limit then I stop them," McCormick said.
McCormick wants drivers to think twice before doing something illegal on the roads. He said thinking twice could save you from getting pulled over or it may just save your life.
