LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A semi truck and passenger car collided on Veterans Memorial Parkway in Lafayette Tuesday morning.

The crash happened just west of State Road 38. A northbound car was traveling on Veterans Memorial Parkway.

Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Deputy Matt Budreau said the vehicle crossed the center line for unknown reasons and hit the side of the semi truck. The car hit the fuel tank on the semi and caused diesel fuel to spill out on the roadway.

Budreau said the man driving the car was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the semi truck was unharmed.

Crews closed Veterans Memorial Parkway for clean up. The road is now open.
