WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - One of West Lafayette's busiest intersections will be reverting back to its old ways in a couple of weeks.
Crews installed two left turn lanes onto Sagamore Parkway off of Salisbury Street back in May. It was all because of the congested traffic from the Yeager Road and Northwestern Avenue project. A two-lane roundabout will take the place the of that intersection.
City engineers said that project will be complete in about 2 to 3 weeks. Which means its detour will vanish, along with the two left turn lanes off of Salisbury.
"We will work with INDOT to change that back to a single left-hand turn lane, a straight lane, and then a dedicated right turn lane onto 52," said Engineering Assistant, Ben Anderson.
Ben Anderson said the roundabout on Yeager and Northwestern will be open Thursday evening. However, the entire project won't be complete for another couple weeks as crews work to install trails and lights along Northwestern.
Anderson said thanks to weather conditions, the project is slated to be complete about 2 months earlier than originally planned.
