BROOKSTON, IN (WLFI) - A local business had employees shave their heads to raise money for a local teen this week.
Terra Drive Systems (TDS) in Brookston had six employees shave their heads Friday to help raise money for the Corbin family.
In November, News 18 told you about Wes Corbin, a freshman at Tri-County High School fighting leukemia.
An employee at TDS came up with the idea to raise money for the family and received support from his employers.
"I just got hired Dec. 10, full time here," a family friend of the Corbins' Gary Roeder said. "We talked about this at the Christmas Party. They said, 'Let's talk about it when we get back to the office.' I approached them, I talked to them and they supported it 110 percent."
One of the six that shaved their heads was Jeff Campbell, the Vice President of Operations for TDS.
"I don't know Wes personally, but I've heard how courageous he's been through this whole ordeal," Campbell said. "We appreciate the effort he has put forth, the family has put forth and the community to come together to support him."
So far, TDS has raised around $1,200 for the Corbin family, with more planned to be donated next week. They plan to present the money to Wes and his family on Jan. 24.
One female employee of TDS also trimmed her hair and donated it to Locks of Love.
