BURNETTSVILLE, Ind. (WLFI) - The Indiana Department of Natural Resources says a tree stand accident occurred Wednesday in northeast Carroll County.
54-year-old Harold L. Combs of Burnettsville told Burnettsville-Indiana Conservation Officers he had been attempting to remove his stand from a tree when he fell from it.
Combs said he was on the top platform of the 20-foot-high homemade metal stand when it bent, causing him to fall.
He said once he had regained consciousness he drove to a nearby home and began yelling for help.
He was transported to St. Elizabeth East Hospital by the Monticello Fire Department.
Investigators say he sustained significant injury.
