Boys and Girls Club to triple in size

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The Lyn Treece Boys and Girls Club will soon nearly triple in size.

Through donations from John and June Scheumann, grant money and funds from the Boys and Girls club board of trustees, the club on Beck Lane in Lafayette broke ground Thursday on a new 6,000 square foot addition.

The new building will have a gym, game room and study areas for the children to use.

Project Architect Kelly Good said that while this may not be the largest project he has worked on, it is one of the most satisfying.

“We've done projects of similar size, but this one is especially special to my heart, because it's going to be giving back to the community for years. These kids that were here earlier today will play in this facility until they get to be our age, or until they get to be out of grade school and high school,” said Good.

The project is scheduled to be complete by the end of the summer.
