Body found in Sugar Creek near Crawfordsville

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Montgomery county law enforcement officials say they discovered a dead body in Sugar Creek Thursday.

According to Montgomery County Sheriff Mark Casteel, Thursday at roughly 12:45 p.m., a body was found in Sugar Creek approximately 2 miles west of the U.S. 231 bridge in Crawfordsville.

The county sheriff’s office and Crawfordsville Police Department detectives responded, along with a crime scene technician from Indiana State Police.

An investigation has begun, including determining the identification of the deceased. An autopsy will be conducted Friday.

Indiana Conservation Officers and Crawfordsville Fire Department assisted the county coroner in recovering the body.
