Bloodmobile makes stop in Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - People who work and live in downtown Lafayette get a chance to save a life Tuesday afternoon.

The Indiana Blood Center's (IBC) Bloodmobile made a stop outside of the Tippecanoe County office building as a part of their summer blood drive.

The IBC encouraged county employees to give a pint, as well as anyone else that happen to be in the neighborhood.

WLFI happened to catch County Treasurer Bob Plantenga rolling up his sleeve for the cause.  He said giving blood is the least he could do.

"This is an easy way for a healthy person to be able to help those that really need it.  It's in front of our building.  I haven't given much before.  So if it helps others, it's the simplest thing I could ever do," said  Plantenga.

"Everybody knows somebody that has needed a blood transfusion or some time in your life there is a chance you'll need one.  So, this is a good deed," said Indiana Blood Center's Whitney Sayer.

Sayer added they are always in need for donations especially in the summer months.
