FRANKFORT, Ind. (WLFI) - Bids for a new community college in Frankfort are keeping the project under budget for now.

Construction for the new Ivy Tech campus in Frankfort will soon begin.

According to Frankfort Mayor Chris McBarnes, the bids show the first phase of the project is 3% under budget.

McBarnes says the bids received are for the construction of the actual building and will not use tax dollars.

"The private dollars which we raised from corporations, small businesses and private individuals that will go through that foundation, through Ivy Tech to pay for this project," McBarnes said.

McBarnes says taxpayer dollars will be spent for construction of parking and utilities to the site.

The first day of classes at the new campus is set for August 19.
