Benefit held for murdered Monticello man

REYNOLDS, Ind. (WLFI) - Saturday was a day to remember as friends and family members held a benefit in memory of Tye Rentfrow.

As you may remember, Rentfrow was shot and killed inside his Monticello home back in October. The benefit Saturday took place at the Reynolds Elementary school and ran from noon until 8 p.m.

The benefit featured a silent auction, food, music and a corn hole tournament. All of the money raised at Saturday's event will go to Rentfrow's son's college fund, and an alternative school program, which helps kids earn their GED.

Jimmy Rentfrow, Tye's brother, said the school actually benefited them directly.

"This year, we're putting it towards Mr. Jerry Cook's alternative school," said Jimmy. "He helps troubled young kids, and he actually helped Tye."

Monticello police have arrested four people in connection with Rentfrow's murder.

21-year-old Ray Chamorro, 20-year-old Alexandra Chapman, 19-year-old Lashea Ramsey and 30-year-old David Jones.

Chamorro faces a preliminary charges of murder. Chapman, Ramsey, and Jones, all face a preliminary charge of assisting a criminal in the crime of murder. All are felony charges.
