ROSSVILLE, Ind. (WLFI) - The temperatures may not feel like it over the next week or two, but for one town, it's time to celebrate the summer's end.
Rossville's Summer's End Festival got off to a rocking start Friday evening. It's an annual tradition going back more than 25 years.
The festivities were kicked off with a special entertaining fire safety show, along with the 'Little Miss' and 'Little Mister' contest and the festival queen pageant.
Rossville Business Association President Zach Brown said it's a way that area businesses can say 'thank you' to the town.
"We like to give back to the community, but it also builds a sense of community," Brown said. "It's easy to live someplace and do business elsewhere. We like to try and be one community here in Rossville. We have an awesome school, we have awesome local area businesses. We think it's a great place to live and hang out with each other."
There's lots more to do Saturday! Events include a parade, car and bike show, golf scramble, music concert and fireworks.
Any proceeds raised help provide scholarships to graduating seniors next spring from Rossville High School.
