TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s dispatchers tell News 18 several crews were called to put out a barn fire on State Road 38 near County Road 1075 East, near Dayton.

Crews were called to respond to the fire around 3:45 Wednesday afternoon.

Our News 18 crew on the scene says the barn is almost gone after the fire.

The fire is suspected to be caused by lightning. WLFI's Chief Meteorologist, Chad Evans, says there is a lot of lightning touching the ground right now.

"(My) map shows cloud-to-ground strikes in the past 15 minutes," Evans said around 4:30 p.m.

Crews say roughly $20,000-worth of damage was done to the barn.

There were no injuries.
