LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Dancing in the Streets is just around the corner and along with all the food and classic cars, the event will feature several local bands.

One of those spots on the line-up is reserved for this year's winner of the Battle of the Bands contest. The winner is chosen by fans going online to vote for their favorite band.

This year's winner is West Lafayette's very own, Years.

Guitarist Jordan Banks attributed their success to their fans.

"We were just able to to reach out to our fans on Facebook and ask them to vote for us. Our parents all voted for us. Well, Adam's parents didn't vote for us.We never really know who is paying attention to what we do or even care about what we do. So, it felt really good to win by as much as we did. We felt really honored to have enough people care about us and vote for us," said Banks.

Adam Jahn, the bassist of Years, was proud they were able to win over so many other talented bands.

"We were up against a lot of really good bands that we enjoy watching and respect. It was an honor to win," said Jahn.

Years will be playing at 4:00 p.m. on the West Lafayette stage.

NewsChannel 18 will be broadcasting a special, hour-long show, live in downtown Lafayette.

You can tune into WLFI on Saturday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m to watch.
