Back wall of the Attica Hotel crumbles

ATTICA, Ind. (WLFI) - The strong storms Saturday evening damaged the back wall of the Attica Hotel in Attica.

Attica fire officials said they aren't sure if the storm was the cause of the collapse, but said strong winds and heavy rain could have been a factor.

Attica Fire Chief Ed O' Farrell said there were people on the other side of the wall during the collapse, but thankfully, no one was hurt. He said the building remains unstable.

"There is some integrity of the building that has been compromised because the back wall is gone," said O' Farrell. "So, the sidewalls, there's really nothing to hold them together. So, we don't know whether it's going to collapse out or whether it's going to collapse in."

Chief O' Farrell said the building will be inspected on Monday for any further damage.
