Area churches send gifts for Christmas

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - It may not be Thanksgiving yet, but several area churches are thinking of Christmas.

Several churches in Greater Lafayette are partnering with the organization Samaritans' Purse for Operation Christmas Child.

The goal is to pack shoe boxes with things such as pens, pencils and even soap to send to children in need around the world.

"It's just nice to give, that's what it means to me," volunteer with Operation Christmas Child Debbie Remaly said. "Because it's and about showing love and caring for other people and putting somebody before myself."

To drop off your own shoe box full of gifts you can go to the following locations:

-Upper Room Christian Fellowship - 2234 Indian Trail Drive, West Lafayette

Nov 12: 4 to 6 p.m.

Nov 13: 12 to 3 p.m.

Nov 14: 4 to 6 p.m.

Nov 15: 9 a.m. to noon
