America welcomes 77 new citizens

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - 77 people can now say they are U.S. citizens.
It's thanks to a naturalization ceremony that took place as part of Global Fest.
The new citizens were sworn in by a federal judge Friday afternoon. They were welcomed to the the Greater Lafayette Area by West Lafayette Mayor John Dennis and representatives for Senator Lugar and U.S. Representative Todd Rokita.
Ezmaria Alberez is one of the new citizens. She's originally from Mexico but decided to become a citizen for her family.
"You can be legal and a citizen, why don't you do it? To me, it's the right thing to do. I did not need to do it but it's the right thing to do," said Alberez.
Alberez has been living in America since she was 17-years-old.
