LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A Sunday morning trip to the grocery store turned out to be nightmare for some, after a man robbed the store at gunpoint.

Lafayette police said the robbery occurred around 11:30 Sunday morning at the Aldi on 957 Sagamore Parkway South in Lafayette.

According to police, the suspect entered the store and acted as a customer until he demanded money from the register. Police said he displayed what appeared to be a handgun.

Police said the man did get away with an undisclosed amount of money, and is still on the loose.

The suspect is described as a white male, between 5 feet 4 inches and 5 feet 6 inches tall. Police said he's between 40 and 50 years old.

At the time of the robbery, police said he was wearing a dark colored shirt and blue jeans. No one was hurt during the robbery.

If you have any information, you are asked to call the Lafayette Police Department at (765)-807-1200  or the WeTip Hotline at 1-800-782-7463.
