WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - West Lafayette is one of the fastest growing cities in America according to Bloomberg Businessweek.

the article was published Thursday and it also lists West Lafayette as the fastest growing city in Indiana.

Bloomberg said the Purdue Research Park alone is home to more than 160 companies. The article also said the unemployment rate in West Lafayette is 4.4%. That's half of the unemployment rate in the entire state. West Lafayette Mayor John Dennis agrees that job availability is a large draw to the community. He said with Purdue University near by, it brings a large international crowd into the community. Dennis said diversity is a draw to the city and businesses interested in relocating.

"Were in a position where we are creating jobs and bringing investments into the community and that is really what brings national attention to a city like West Lafayette," Dennis.

Dennis said the Bloomberg article is proof West Lafayette is growing, despite the 2010 census data, which suggested the city only grew by 1,000 people in the last ten years.
