WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Fans at the West Lafayette boys varsity basketball game had a chance to help the West Lafayette Community School Corporation.
West Lafayette schools hosted a silent auction during halftime of the game versus Lafayette Jeff.
Items available included autographed photos of Peyton Manning and Drew Brees as well as Super Bowl footballs.
The money raised will go toward the referendum campaign that was started after the state reduced funding for school corporations.
Superintendent Rocky Killion said it's important to get the community involved.
"Some had said cut sports, cut extra curricular, cut music, cut art before doing this kind of thing, but many have said to me please look at every option available before you would ever do something like that, so that's why this is so important. It's a community decision. We've got thousands of dollars being raised tonight and many more thousands of dollars that we know will be raised in the coming months," Killion said.
The fundraiser brought in $3000 for for the school district.
