WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The City of West Lafayette is working to design a better Pay As You Throw trash system where residents pay per bag of garbage.

The work group discussed whether using stickers people must pay for on each bag of trash was feasible.

City Council Member Ann Hunt said stickers got negative feedback from West Lafayette residents.

"I think many people would like to avoid the complications of the stickers. The stickers have some value because they are really a monetary way you can think about reducing your trash because you have to pay more if you have more trash. So, many of the comments, I think, are just concerned about what stickers will mean to the whole process," she explained.

West Lafayette City Council will have a final vote on the Pay as You Throw plan in March.
