LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Lafayette police arrest a women after finding her lying on top
of her unconscious toddler. Police were called to Union Street and
Earl Avenue Saturday morning around 7 a.m. The officers found
23-year-old Senora Wheeler lying under a tree and three children
near her. Wheeler's three-year-old son was found underneath her.
Her son was unresponsive and had no pulse. Detective Scott
McCoy said the boy was believed to have been in cardiac arrest for
a significant amount of time. He was taken to Home Hospital and
then airlifted to Saint Vincent's Peyton Manning Children's
Hospital. Wheeler was arrested for neglect of a dependent, battery
and resisting law enforcement.
