There will be fewer Vote Center locations in Tippecanoe County during the 2010 elections. The Tippecanoe County Board of Elections and Voter Registration voted to drop the County Extension Office and McAllister Center from the Vote Center locations next year. They were the two least-used locations during the 2008 elections. The Election Board added a Vote Center in Clarks Hill for next year's election.
As far as the early voting sites, the board dropped Regency Place, State Farm, Clarks Hill, and Rosewalk Village. And, because of population increases, the board created nine new precincts. State law limits precincts to 1,200 people. The new precincts were created because of growth on the south side of the city. If it's approved by the state, Monday's action would give Tippecanoe County 100 precincts.
County Clerk Linda Phillips said the new precincts will have little impact on voters, because the county is using Vote Centers.
