TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Tippecanoe County transportation planners will study car pooling in Greater Lafayette.
The Area Plan Commission will do a vehicle occupancy survey in April 2010. The number of cars as well as the number of people in them will be counted. Transportation Planner Doug Poad said the study will help the county decide what road projects are important in the future.
"In the next two to three years we will be looking at long range plans looking at what projects we'll need in the 20-30 years. This is a critical piece of information for that traffic model," he explained.
A similar study was done in 2003. The Area Plan Commission is interested in finding out of if car pooling has increased, decreased or remained stable.
