Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. resumed production

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - NewsChannel 18 has just learned the parent company of Subaru of Indiana Automotive (SIA), Fuji Heavy Industries, has resumed production in Japan for spare parts and supplies for its auto manufacturing facilities.

According to a news release, Fuji's facilities in Japan started making parts again for overseas production Wednesday, after nearly two weeks of down time. The plants in Japan had to halt production after the major earthquake in the country earlier this month.

Fuji is extending the production suspension at all five of its Subaru automobile plants in Japan until Monday, March 28. Those automobile plants in Japan include Gunma Main Plant, Gunma Yajima Plant, Gunma Ota North Plant, Gunma Oizumi Plant and Isesaki Plant.

Fuji Heavy Industries said production is continuing to be suspended at those facilities in Japan considering the influence of its suppliers in the affected areas as well as conditions of electric power supply. Fuji previously announced its production suspension until March 24.
