The action at one of West Lafayette's coldest mainstays heated up tonight.
The Riverside Skating Center is open for the season.
Dozens of people strapped on their ice skates to enjoy opening day at Tapawingo Park.
Skaters said it's a great way get out and spend time with friends.
"I'm home for the week from college, so I thought it'd be a fun way to spend some time with a big group of friends. Trying to run around the rink and I think later we're going to have some hot chocolate, so good times," said ice skater Clara Bush.
"Last year we came quite a few times, a group of friends, and we had a lot of fun and I found out on the internet that it was opening today and said, "Hey, let's go out. We've got to enjoy the day," Madison Koehler said
