"Twilight" fans have been counting down the days until the second movie in the series, "New Moon," opens in theatres.  On Thursday, the saga hits the big screen at midnight.  But, before the movie starts, fans of Jacob, Edward, and Bella can head to a "Twilight" event at Purdue.

Post-Doctoral Teaching Fellow Emily Redman is hosting a discussion about the movies.  Redman is one of the only instructors at Purdue who is using the book "Twilight" as an academic text in her Great Narrative Works class.

"Twilight is a very polarizing text.  I don't have any students in my class who feel apathetically toward Twilight.  There's nobody that says I could take it or leave it.  I have my Twilight lovers and my Twilight haters.  Actually, the people who are going to be judging the costume contest are the Twilight haters," said Redman.

The Twilight event will start at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday in the Mechanical Engineering Building, Room 161.

Redman encouraged attendees to wear a costume. The best costume will win a prize.

The public is invited to attend.  Refreshments will be available.
