LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - New Year's babies traditionally represent new beginnings, and
two local families are celebrating the life-changing births of
their New Year's infants.
Lucas Robert Jackson was the first baby born in Home
Hospital, the first born to Kadi and Robert Jackson, the first
grandchild and was born on the first day of the new decade.
"I'm pretty sure that I won't have a New Years that went quite like this. Next year it will be fun to see the ball drop some where else and remember Kadi being hooked up to monitors, waiting for Lucas," said father Robert Jackson.
Across town in Clarian Arnett Hospital, a second daughter was born to the Peyton family. Sacha Laurel is the first in her family to be born on New Years day.
"I feel great. Couldn't be happier," said Sacha's mother, Linda Peyton.
New mother Kadi Jackson said she feels elated the baby Lucas is finally here.
"I'm just happy that he is healthy and here, and him being the first baby in Lafayette is just an added bonus." said Kadi Jackson.
At the beginning of a new year many people make resolutions as a way to better themselves in the new year. Robert Jackson's New Year's resolution is simple.
"Just to be as good as dad as I can be. I think is my resolution. We were just praying for a healthy baby and we got one. That is about all that I could ask for," said Robert Jackson.
Sacha's mother, Linda Peyton said next year the family doesn't have anything larged planned.
"We will probably just be thinking about our family and being appreciative of the family that we have," said Linda Peyton.
Sacha Peyton arrived a bit early. Mom Linda said she was due
January 7. The Jacksons said Lucas arrived right on time. His due
date was January 1.
