Lafayette neighborhood gets award

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A Lafayette neighborhood gets a national honor.

The Historic Ninth Street Hill neighborhood from the American Planning Association award the Historic Ninth Street Hill neighborhood the title “Great Neighborhood” for 2010. The association selected 10 neighborhoods throughout the US for the honor.

Ninth Street Hill was recognized for its historic architecture, residents' community activism and pedestrian-friendly qualities. Beth Riedeman has lived in the neighborhood for five years and invites you to come see it.

"We have all throughout the neighborhood, we have tours that you can do, walking tours, brochures to do a walking tour. We have places like the Art Museum and the Historical Museum within our neighborhood association,” she said.

The Historic Ninth Street Hill Neighborhood is the first area in Indiana to be designated a Great Place in America.
