LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WFLI) - The Lafayette City Council will discuss Tippecanoe County's wind energy ordinance.
The Tippecanoe County Area Plan Commission voted to altered the set back for turbines. The amendment allows turbines to be set back 1200 feet from a non-participating land owner's house and 750 feet from a non-participating land owner's property.
Lafayette City Council is one of many area councils that must approve the changes before the ordinance goes into affect.
"It isn't going to affect the City of Lafayette. We have a unified zoning ordinance and each of the entities in the county have to approve it,” said City Councilman Rick Cornstuble from District 1.
The council will also take a look at allowing shopping centers with signs with moving messages to advertise sales and specials. Currently shopping centers can only use the signs to show which stores are in the center.
The Lafayette City Council will discuss these two matters next week on Monday, August 2, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.
