89-year-old critically injured in crash

Drove van into path of SUV

CARROLL COUNTY, Ind. -- (WLFI) - Two cars collided Friday morning at a state road intersection in Carroll County, and one driver was critically injured.

The Carroll County sheriff's department said 89-year-old John Day of Walton, was driving a van and failed to yield for an SUV driven by 19-year-old James Sharp of Young America.

Day was westbound on State Road 218 and Sharp was northbound on State Road 29. The accident occurred at the north junction of the highways.

Both were taken to Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Sharp was treated and released.

Day was transferred to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and is listed in critical condition.
