Planned Parenthood of Indiana funding update

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Lawyers for Planned Parenthood of Indiana will be back in court next week, to make sure its Medicaid funding is re-instated.

Planned Parenthood of Indiana was de-funded last month, after Governor Mitch Daniels signed into law legislation that took away state funding from the health care provider because it offers abortion services.

President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Indiana Betty Cochrum said now the Daniels administration has 60 days to decided what to do in response to the Health and Human Services ruling. Cochrum said the ruling tells Indiana that taking away Planned Parenthood's Medicaid status is illegal.

"We are seeking a preliminary injunction and the judge had already indicated she intends to expedite her ruling," said Cochrum.

Cochrum said worldwide donations since the state's recent ruling have provided for Planned Parenthood's Medicaid patients to continue services at their offices.

President of Tippecanoe County Right to Life chapter Pastor Joe Bell said that they will continue to pray to end abortion and the federal government is trying to bully states into forcing them to conform to their immoral vales.
