WEST LAFEYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Purdue University students said the census signs around campus are not being ignored.
Sophomore Stephanie Young said, "We have signs posted around my dorm. I'm sure it's that way with all of them. The signs are just about when it's due and what it's for. I've seen commercials and stuff. I feel like I have a good idea about it."
Many of the students that live on campus received their census forms at the beginning of the week. Assistant Dean of Students Harry Brown said there are still large groups of students to be counted.
"The census counters haven't gone out in to the neighborhood and they don't have the group counts yet. So, I think given those factors, we're looking at so far probably a pretty encouraging response rate," said Brown.
Group counts include those living in resident halls, fraternities, sororities and co-op houses. Brown said campus residents that do not turn their census in will still receive a knock on their door from census workers.
"The census has a rule of thumb, they attempt to contact residents three times twice by knocking on the door, once by telephone. So we anticipate that will be done sometime between now and May," said Brown.
