WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A construction worker was injured this morning at Mackey Arena after falling roughly 10 feet.

The Purdue Fire Department responded to the call around 11:00 this morning.

Purdue spokesperson Brian Zink said the worker fell from metal decking on the fourth floor to the third.

Fire crews used an aeriel truck to lift the worker to the ground. The worker, whose name has not been released, was transported to St. Elizabeth Medical Center with an injured arm, cuts and bruises.

The individual who was hurt works for project subcontractor Hoosier Steel, based in New Castle, IN.

Zink said the worker was pulling metal decking on the penthouse level when he stepped through a hole and fell to the next level. A safety manager from Hoosier Steel was on the site this afternoon to investigate.

The injured worker was treated and released.

Mackey Arena is currently undergoing a $100 million renovation project.
