LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The Indiana Department of Transportation closed a part of U.S. 52.
INDOT is constructing two bridges that will go over the Norfolk Southern train tracks just south of Creasy Lane.
Motorist are being directed to follow a detour. The detour will follow County Road 350 to State Road 38 then on to Creasy Lane and then back to U.S. 52.
INDOT public information Director Debbie Calder said: "I know this is going to be a benefit in the long run, because people will not have to every wait for trains there again once this is completed in November."
This project is going to cost $5.4 million. That money is coming from the American Re-investment and Recovery Act.
