TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Tippecanoe County Councilman Roland Winger plans to run for a full term in office this year.
Winger announced his candidacy for the District 2 seat Tuesday afternoon. He asked voters to consider two questions when going to the polls:
-What do you want Tippecanoe County to be?
-Who can best get us there?
Winger was recently elected as Vice President of the County Council.
He said one thing he plans to focus on is cost savings.
"We're going to be appropriated less money in 2011 for our upcoming budget year that we will consider this summer. We've got to begin right now on the Council to find those cost savings, so by the time we get to budget time in the summer of 2010, we're ready to cut that budget down overall," said Winger.
Winger said he learned a lot over the past year in office.
"This past year on council I have learned the ropes, established working relationships, identified our challenges and found the places where I can make a difference. And, I'm asking if you would join me in that effort today," said Winger.
Winger was first appointed to the Council to fill an un-expired term in December, 2008.
He works as the Vice President of clinical and product development for Ash Access Technology in Lafayette.
He has lived in Tippecanoe County for 29 years.
