18-year-old woman travels from Ohio to Logansport to ride in Batmobile

LOGANSPORT, IN (WLFI) - An 18 year old from Ohio journeyed to Logansport to take a car ride she would never forget.

Allyson Martin was diagnosed with leukemia in May of 2012, shortly after graduating from high school.

After several treatments, doctors told Martin there was nothing else they could do to cure her.

Martin, a huge Batman fan, told her friends her last wish was to ride in a replica of the Batmobile from the 1960s TV show.

Fiberglass Freaks in Logansport makes custom Batmobiles and arranged for Martin to come to Logansport Tuesday to ride in the iconic car.

There are many reasons why Allyson loves Batman but it's mainly because of her brother.

"When I was little, my little brother was obsessed with Batman," Martin said.  "We used to play it every time he would come over. I didn't see my brother for six years, I actually didn't see him until I got diagnosed. It's kind of part of my brother."

"I absolutely love to give back to the people who have been fans of the Batman TV show and the Batmobile," owner of Fiberglass Freaks Mark Racop said. "I love to be able to get out there and help them out."

Allyson's friends, who are also Batman fans, joined her in Logansport and took their turns riding in the Batmobile.
